The dining atmosphere is casual with a side of quirky edgy fun. From the moment my husband and I arrived we were captivated by the remarkable transformation of the space and transported on a culinary adventure which is sure to become a neighbourhood favourite for locals and a must stop for visitors to Town.
We started with two scrumptious sharing plates – ‘KFC’ – Korean Fried Cauliflower in sweet and spicy ginger chili sauce topped with sesame seeds along with ‘Kali Stop Drop and Roll’ – a monster of a delicious shrimp sushi roll served with sriracha aioli.
This would have been enough for a typical lunch stop but Chef Abbey Solomon insisted that we just had to try ‘The Butcher’s Beef Dip’ – a braised short rib hoagie complete with the bone! Who are we to say no? Food should be fun especially when there’s a video available to show you how to eat your sandwich.

Culinary Dropout is the latest eatery to form part of the 43North Restaurant Group. Owners, Tony Visca and Fern Colavecchia are proud Niagara residents who have always stretched their entrepreneurial legs locally. Their other locations include Johnny Rocco’s, Mick & Angelo’s and Cracker Jack., They are no strangers to the Niagara community and are very excited to bring their brand-new restaurant concept to Pelham.
Culinary Dropout is a one-of-a-kind dining experience that involves interactive menu items and atmosphere. When asked to explain their new concept, Visca and Colavecchia admitted they had a hard time putting it into words themselves; so they coined the phrase Culinary Dropout is not easily definable and even harder to forget. “Our primary inspiration for Culinary Dropout roots from our want to colour outside of the lines and inspire people to have fun with food”
Colavecchia states. The ‘Smash Me’ dessert is a perfect example of this. Colavecchia continues, “We took this inspiration one step further and used it for our design as well. We played with a lot of textures, colours, photos and quotes to create the personality of Culinary Dropout; every seat offers our guests a different view”.
The Visca and Colavecchia team has been eager to open a restaurant in Pelham for years because of their childhood connection to the area. Visca explains that, as a child, he had a lot friends in the area and regularly played soccer on the Pelham fields. Although they didn’t initially plan to open during a global pandemic, they are grateful and humbled by the community welcoming them.
“The Niagara Region is our home, and now more than ever, we’re thrilled to offer job opportunities for our community” states Colavecchia.
